AC Milan's perfect home record in the Serie A came to a halt after a 1-1 draw with Sampdoria at the San Siro on Saturday.

Andriy Shevchenko put the home side ahead from a 13th minute penalty before Andrea Gasbarroni put Sampa at level and ended the Rossoneri's 10-match winning streak at the Giuseppe Meazza.

The result left Milan third in the Calcio table with 47 points, nine behind leaders Juventus who face Ascoli on Sunday.

Milan took an early lead through Shevchenko's spot-kick after Filippo Inzaghi was upended by Sampdoria defender Sergio Volpi in the area.

Sampdoria grabbed a surprise equalizer in the 36th minute when Gasbarroni fired a shot from the edge of the area and past the motionless Dida.

The woodwork came to Milan's rescue twice before the interval, first denying Volpi's free-kick then Marcello Castellini's header.

Earlier on Saturday, Palermo suffered a shocking 3-1 home defeat to Siena.

Erion Bogdani struck a hat-trick for the visitors while Denis Godeas scored Palermo's consolation goal.
