Egypt goalkeeper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed sustained a rib injury in the team’s training in Harare, only 48 hours before the World Cup qualifier against Zimbabwe.

The Zamalek captain had to go to the hospital after for a scan, which showed he has suffered a mild fracture.

"At first it seemed he did not break any bones but he was in severe pain so we decided to do MRI," Egypt assistant coach Diaa Al-Sayed told FilGoal.com.

"Scans showed he has a fracture and thus he will immediately go back to Egypt for treatment."

Coach Al-Sayed indicated that Ittihad goalie Al-Hani Soliman was called up to replace Abdul-Wahed before announcing it is Ismaili's Mohamed Sobhi.

Abdul-Wahed was considered a favorite to stand between Egypt’s posts against Zimbabwe on Sunday, having been entrusted with the number one shorts in the first game against the Warriors.

Ahli’s Sherif Ekrami is now set to be the man in goal for the Pharaohs.

Ekrami, who turns 30 next Monday, has yet to play a competetive match for Egypt.

The third goalkeeper in Bob Bradley's squad is Zamalek's Ahmed Al-Shennawi, who only made a single appearance for the Whites this term.
