Egyptian authorities have finally agreed to allow fans to watch the cup final between Zamalek and Wadi Degla in Gouna, the FA said.

The announcement comes nly 24 hours after the FA had confirmed that Saturday's game will be held behind closed doors.

The Egyptian football governing body said that a maximum of 4000 supporters will be allowed at the 7000-seater Gouna Stadium.

It is believed that the decision was influenced by the intervention of sports minister Taher Abou-Zeid, who managed to convince security forces to lift the crowd ban.

Zamalek, who protested against the initial ruling, issued an official statement thanking former Ahli star Abou-Zeid on their website.

The Whites are firm favorites to claim their 22nd cup title against first-time finalists Degla.
