Toulan, who has been in charge of the Whites since July, is believed to have refused a pay-cut request by the club’s interim board.
“Honestly, the club’s financial position suggests we cannot afford the wages of coach Toulan’s managing staff,” Zamalek board member Tarek Gebril said.
“We respect coach Toulan but he has to understand that we are trying to minimize our costs.”
Toulan guided Zamalek to their first major trophy in five years by clinching the Egypt Cup this month.
Despite their 'financial crisis', Zamalek still managed to make a number of signing lately, including Ahmed Ali, Momen Zakaria, Yasser Ibrahim and Arafa Al-Sayed.
