Performance of the week

In a scoreless week for all foreign-based Egyptians, Mohamed Salah was the closest to a an impressive performance having set up Marco Streller with a goal in Basel’s 4-1 win over Thun.

Ahmed Elmohamady featured for the whole game but was shown a yellow card late in the first half.

In Portugal, Rio Ave’s Ahmed Hassan 'Koka' played for 72 minutes in the 2-0 league home defeat to Estoril in a game that saw him booked late in the first half.

Young defender Ali Ghazal missed Nacional's impressive 1-1 draw at holders Porto through automatic suspension after being shown red in the previous league draw with Olhanense.

Egypt midfielder Hossam Ghaly was involved in Lierse's 4-2 win at Cercle Brugge when his cross was converted by a defender into his own goal.
