Mahmoud Taher has been named new Ahli chairman after winning the club's presidential elections on Saturday night.
Taher, a wealthy businessman, comfortably surpassed main rival Ibrahim Al-Moallem to claim most of the votes.
He replaces former club captain Hassan Hamdi, who took over from Saleh Selim in 2002 to guide the Cairo giants to a host of local and continental feats.
Hamdi, who has been embroiled in a series of controversies and accusations of late, was publicly supporting losing candidate Al-Moallem.
