El-Saqqa, whose current contract expires in 2007, put pen to paper on a new deal that will extend his stay at Konyaspor for one season, at the request of the Turkish club’s officials.
The veteran defender’s signature put an end to rumors linking him to a number of Turkish and Egyptian clubs.
The new deal includes increased benefits for El-Saqqa who is a pivotal member in the Konya squad.
“I’m very happy with the appreciation extended to me by Konyaspor officials,” El-Saqqa told Filgoal.com on Tuesday.
“I agreed to the new deal due to the great satisfaction I feel here in the club,” the Egypt defender added.
The 31-year-old player joined Konyaspor from Genclerbirligi during the off-season and has scored four goals in the Turkish championship so far.
Konyaspor are holding 9th place in the Turkish league table with 22 points.
