Lemerre names Tunisian squad for African Cup

Tunisia coach Roger Lemerre named a 23-man squad for the African Cup of Nations (ACN) in Egypt later this month, Tunisian newspaper La Presse reported on Monday.

The African champions’ squad did not witness any surprises as rumors suggested that Lemerre could rest his key-players for the World Cup finals in Germany later this year.

However, the former France coach called-up uncapped players Issam Merdassi from Sfaxien and Esperance’s Amine Eltaif for the Tunisian squad.

Tunisia were drawn in Group C alongside South Africa, Guinea and Zambia in the tournament that takes place from January 20th to the 10th of February.

The complete Tunisian squad:

Goalkeepers: Ali Boumnijel (Club Africain), Khaled Fadhel (Erciyespor), Hamdi Kasraoui (Esperance).

Defenders: Hatem Trabelsi (Ajax Amsterdam), Anis Ayari (Samsunspor),Wissem Bekri (Esperance) , Issam Merdassi (CS Sfaxien), Radhi Jaidi (Bolton Wanderers), Karim Haggui (Strasbourg), Jose Clayton (Qatar).

Midfielders: Chawki Ben Saada (Bastia), Adel Chedli (Nuremberg), Kais Ghodhbane (Samsunspor), Sofiane Militi (Foscala), Jawher Mnari (Nuremberg), Riadh Bouazizi (Kayseri Exciysspor), Slim Ben Achour (Guimares), Hamed Namouchi (Rangers).

Strikers: Amine Eltaif (Esperance), Zied Jaziri (Troyes), Haikel Guemamdia (Strasbourg), Issam Jomaa (Lens), Silva Dos Santos (Toulouse).
