"Chelsea today completed the loan signing of Portugal international midfielder Maniche," read a statement on the Chelsea’s official website. "The 28-year-old joins until the end of the season from Dynamo Moscow.
Maniche has not played in any European competition this season, making him eligible to play for Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League this season.
The Portuguese midfielder, who played under coach Jose Mourinho at both Benfica and Porto, joined Dynamo in May 2005 for a fee of 16 million euros ($19.3 million).
Maniche was a key member of Porto’s 2004 Champions League winning side under Mourinho and played a pivotal role in Portugal’s run to the Euro 2004 final.
Maniche’s arrival at Stamford Bridge gives countryman Mourinho options in midfield as he will be able to fill in for injured midfielder Michael Essien.
