Zamalek president Morsi Attallah said that French manager Henri Kasperczak is not the only candidate to replace Farouk Gaafar as head coach.

“Kasperczak is one of three candidates to take over the position of head coach,” Attallah told Filgoal.com on Wednesday. “We sent him an offer but we have yet to receive a reply.”

The 56-year-old manager has a vast experience with African teams, coaching the national teams of Mali, Ivory Coast, Tunisia and Morocco.

“Some people are trying to manipulate us to agree a deal with Kasperczak according to his conditions because it will benefit them, but that won’t happen,” said Attallah.

“We will only sign him according to our conditions and after we become 100% sure that he is the most suitable person to coach Zamalek,” he added.

Meanwhile, former Zamalek skipper Ashraf Qasem has turned down a nomination to fill the position of football director.

Qasem denied being officially approached to fill the post but told Filgoal.com that he would refuse it anyways.

“I heard rumors connecting me to the football director position, but no one from Zamalek approached,” Qasem said.

“But if I do get an official offer I will turn it down because I’m more interested in pursuing my coaching career,” he added.
