Mido was once a Tottenham star

Tottenham icon Gary Lineker dished out praise for Egypt striker Ahmed Hossam “Mido” noting he was essential in the Spurs front-line.

Lineker, who won the top-scorer award at the 1986 World Cup finals in Mexico, said that Tottenham coach Martin Jol was fortunate to have three prolific strikers in Mido, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe.

“He has got the sort of problem with his strikers most manager would kill for: juggling Robbie Keane, Jermain Defoe and Mido,” the former England international was quoted as saying by The Mirror Sport.

Lineker noted that the 22-year-old Mido has the qualities needed by Tottenham that make a regular in the starting line-up.

"Mido is the sort of big, strong player they need to lead the line and you can take your pick from the other two - they are both world class as well," he explained.

Tottenham will face Leicester City in the FA Cup later on Sunday.
