The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) approved Senegal’s request to stay in Ismailia instead of Port Said for the duration of the African Cup of Nations (ACN).

The Senegalese delegation will reside in the Ismailia Olympic Village instead of their initial hotel in down town Port Said, where Group D matches will be held.

Senegal officials said the Olympic Village will provide their side with more peace and quiet, which they claim is not attainable in Port Said, to help the players focus.

The change of residence request is second to be approved by the LOC following that of Libya.

Senegal will play their first match of the tournament against Zimbabwe on January 23rd in their Group D that includes Ghana and Nigeria.

The LOC also filed an official complaint against Port Said Governor Mostafa Kamel to Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif.

Tournament officials said Kamel was not cooperating with the LOC in terms of publicizing the ACN within the governorate.

PM Nazif promised LOC officials to take immediate action and fulfill their every need.
