AC Milan title hopes faded on Sunday after they lost 1-0 to AS Roma in the Serie A on Sunday.

Brazilian midfielder Amantino Mancini snatched what proved to be the winner nine minutes from time to secure the precious three points for Roma.

The result slipped Milan to third place with 40 points, two points behind second-place Inter Milan and 12 points behind leaders Juventus while Roma moved to sixth spot on 30 points.

Milan Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf made an early threat in the 11th minute when he chipped a long range ball that was denied brilliantly by Roma keeper Donieber Doni.

Seven minutes after the break, Seedorf caught the spot lights again as he fired a powerful shot from the edge of the area but it went just wide.

Mancini scored the winner for the Giallorossi in the 81st minute when he collected Francesco Totti's pass inside the area and sent a low drive which took a slight deflection off Jaap Stam's body and went into the net.
