Bolton striker El Hadji Diouf vowed to desert his bad boy image and concentrate on winning the African Cup of Nations title with Senegal.

"The television camera people should forget about getting pictures of Diouf in trouble because that is not part of the plan here," the Senegal talisman told BBC Sport.

"I have an important role to play because I'm here for business."

The two-time African footballer of the year was given a four-match ban in the last African Cup after being charged with aggressive behavior during Senegal's match against hosts Tunisia, which forced him to miss the beginning of his side's qualifying campaign.

The former Liverpool forward's problems haunted him in the Premiership, but he explained that it is all in the past.

"A lot of things have happened to me but that is all part of history now," said the 25-year-old.

"We have never won the Cup of Nations and it is very important for me to be here and be among the first group of players to achieve that," he added.

Senegal are in top spot in their African Cup Group D that includes powerhouses Nigeria and Ghana along with Zimbabwe whom they defeated 2-0 in the opening match.

"I know it will be tough but we are ready to give everything to ensure the trophy goes to Dakar, because our fans deserve it," he said.
