Mex Stadium, Alexandria - Hany El-Awadi and Murad Teyeb: Guinea boss Patrice Neveu voiced his happiness in their 2-1 victory over Zamia and insisted that the change of strategy in the second-half was the key to winning the African Cup of Nations (ACN) Group C match that took place on Thursday.

“We changed our strategy in the second-half, and the players’ performance improved drastically, that why we won,” Neveu told reporters in a press conference after the match.

Guinea defeated Zambia thanks to a brace by Pascal Feindouno, while Elijah Tana scored Zambia’s only goal.

“We will rest some of our star players in our match against Tunisia, but this doesn’t mean that we’ll under-estimate our opponents, on the contrary, we will do our best to come our with a good result,” Neveu added.

Guinea moved to Group C’s top-spot with six points, only to move even closer to round-two qualification.

On the other hand, Feindouno insisted that coach Neveu’s enthusiasm and fighting spirit were the only reason they won and said: “we showed poor form in the first-half, but the coach asked us to switch to an aggressive approach, which lead us to victory.”

Meanwhile, Zambia coach Kalusha Bwalya said that they fell into the same mistakes committed in their previous match against Tunisia, also our players were the less experienced side.”

Bwalya also vowed to put on more powerful performances in coming competitions and asked the fans to have patience on the team players.
