Robbers have raided the hotel rooms of the Nigerian team during their stay in Alexandria for their African Cup of Nations semifinal encounter with Ivory Coast, BBC Sport reported on Wednesday.

Robbers have raided the hotel rooms of the Nigerian team during their stay in Alexandria for their African Cup of Nations semifinal encounter with Ivory Coast, BBC Sport reported on Wednesday.

The players have reported missing large amounts of money and other items like mobile phones and other personal belongings.

Marseille midfielder, Wilson Oruma said he lost $6000 while reserve keeper Dele Aiyenugba said he was missing $2,500.

Nigeria team official, Sunmonu Bello-Osagie confirmed the incident that occurred at the Green Plaza Hotel and said that the police are handling the matter.

Nigeria fell to Ivory Coast 1-0 in the semifinals and will face Senegal on Thursday in the third place match.
