Bayern Munich went 10 points clear at the top of the Bundesliga table after a 2-1 win over Nuremberg on Sunday.

Robert Vittek canceled out Roy Makaay’s 27th minute opener for Bayern before Michael Ballack secured the win with a 54th minute goal.

The win raised Bayern’s point tally to 54 and put them on course for their 20th Bundesliga title.

Hamburg are in second place with 44 points after a 2-1 win at Mainz on Saturday.

Ballack had a couple of close misses early in the game but it was Makaay who put the Bavarians ahead in the 27th minute after a cunning back pass from Claudio Pizarro set-up the Dutchman for the easy finish.

The game turned in favor of Nuremberg who grabbed the equalizer through a long-range drive from Vittek that left Bayern skipper Oliver Kahn helpless.

In the 54th minute, Ballack blasted home the winner for Bayern after being set up by Makaay.

Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund were held to a goalless stalemate by last placed Cologne.
