“I ask for the authorities’ support for banning the separating line between Ahli and Zamalek fans in the derby,” Ahli general manager Muharram Al-Ragheb told Filgoal.com exclusively on Wednesday.
Egyptian fans were an example of sheer support for their side, an aspect that helped Egypt win their fifth African Cup title.
Nevertheless, the high selling price for match tickets was one of the main factors that limited a certain faction of fans from going.
Al-Ragheb insisted that abandoning the usual “segregation” scheme would help create a new football trend in Egypt, and would simulate what happens in European countries.
On the other hand, Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri announced that the team will begin their preparation and training for the highly anticipated derby on Thursday.
“We will decide on Mohamed Barakat and Mohamed Shawky’s fates after Thursday’s training, Wael Gomaa has been ruled out after the medical team confirmed to us his ineligibility to play, nevertheless, all of the players, including the injured, will join the team’s closed-camp,” Al-Badri told Filgoal.com exclusively.
Al-Badri also said that Angolan striker Flavio Amado will return to the team training after finishing his duty with his national team in their friendly against South Korea.
Ahli lost two points in their title defense campaign after being held by less-experienced Ghazl Mahalla to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday.
