"I received a lot of calls after the rumors about me moving to Ahli started spreading on Monday, I’m assuring the people that its totally untrue," Aboul-Ela told Filgoa.com exclusively on Monday.
Rumors spread on the internet media that Aboul-Ela moved to Ahli after a meeting with marketing department head Adli Al-Keie, which was laughed off by the talented player.
“I received no official offers from Ahli and there are no negotiations between us,” Abou-Ela said.
Aboul-Ela also insisted the Zamalek board members made it clear that they want him to stay with the club, and that they were going to table him a new offer as soon as they got of their financial crisis.
The 26-year-old’s contract is due to expire by the end of the season, after which he becomes a free-agent and can open talks with any other club.
Ahli midfielder Gilberto’s absence from the field for a long period of time through injury helped spread the rumors abour Aboul-Ela’s move, in addition to Ahmed Abu-Mosallam’s move to French outfit Strasbourg and the uncertain future of Mohamed Abdul-Wahab, who is on loan from UAE club Al-Zafra.
Aboul-Ela scored only one goal throughout the season, during Zamalek’s game against Aluminum.
