Reports revealed that a deal between the former Tunisia coach and the club has not been confirmed, however Kasperczak has been going through serious negotiations with club president Othmane Jenayah over the past few days, especially after his recent visit to the club in Sousse earlier this month.
Jenayah, who seemed unsatisfied by the Etoile Sahel’s results this season, expressed the club’s need for a good coach despite his great respect for the club’s current manager, Mecha Bazdarević.
“Etoile Sahel is a big club and it needs a great coach to make good results,” Jenayah told FilGoal.com.
More reports have said that the team might undergo changes in its management by the end of the season, particularly after their surprise exit from the Tunisian Cup last Sunday, when they fell to underdogs, CS Hammam-Lif.
Etoile Sahel are four points behind league leaders, Esperance, however their chances seem slim in overtaking the top spot.
They also lost to Egypt’s Ahli in the African Champions League final last November with an aggregate 3-0 score-line.
Kasperczak, who led the Tunisian national team to the African Cup of Nations final in 1996, has been tipped off to manage Etoile Sahel on several previous occasions as he has a good relationship with the club officials and is known to spend a fair share of his time in Sousse.
