Zenit St Petersburg reached the UEFA Cup quarter-finals after they held French giants Marseille to a 1-1 home draw on Thursday, to advance with a 2-1 aggregate score.

Frederic Dehu's goal for the visitors in the 74th minute cancelled out Alexander Kerzhakov's strike in the 69th minute.

Another French side were bowed out of the competition as Strasbourg tied Swiss giants Basel 2-2.

Rudy Carlier leveled the score in the 11th minute before Da Silva struck again to restore the lead for Basel, Marseille keeper Cedric Carrasso was sent off just one minute from time.

Cedric Kante equalized for Strasbourg but it was not enough to hand his side a place in UEFA Cup's quarter-finals.

Elsewhere, Bulgaria's Levski Sofia beat Italian side Udinese 2-1, the result lifted Levski to the UEFA Cup quarter-finals after the first leg ended in a goalless draw.
