Holland boss Marco van Basten blasted FIFA for their policy that sets May 15th as a deadline for naming their World Cup squads.

"This decision flies in the face of 32 national coaches. We thought it was in football's best interest if the deadline was moved. I'm very disappointed the decision is negative," van Basten was quoted as saying by Sky Sports on Friday.

Van Basten’s anger is shared amongst the majority of the international coaches due to the large time difference between the deadline and the kick-off date of the World Cup, an aspect that doesn’t aid them in making any last-minute decisions in the cases of injury or sudden below-par performances.

"This deadline is quite a problem," France coach Raymond Domenech told L'Equipe in support of van Basten.

Ongoing England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson have expressed their anger towards FIFA earlier in this aspect.
