"We won, but I’m not happy, it wasn’t a good game," Jose told a press conference after the match.
"We didn’t play with our usual level of performance and we squandered many chances to score.
"We are the African Champions, I guess that’s why we lose motivation when playing against a weaker club, anyhow I hope we do better in the second-leg in Cairo."
Emad Meteb scored twice to give Ahli a 2-0 win over the hosts in the first leg of the round of 32.
On the other hand, Tusker boss Jacob Mulee insisted that his side lost in front a much more powerful team.
"They are a team of much more experience than us and we must respect them for that, they are the African champions and I think you’ve noticed that," Mulee said.
But Mulee insisted that despite the defeat, his side did their best and succeeded in keeping the Ahli attacking-line out of their area for most of the match.
"They beat us with their speed and accuracy, but we were strong competition when it came to the technical side," added Mulee, known in Kenya as the 'Ghost'.
