Ahli assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri said that the team achieved their primary aim from their Egyptian league 2-0 victory over Aluminum by regaining the league's summit.

"We fulfilled our goal by getting the three points, but the players’ performance during the match was mediocre, given the Aluminum’s defensive strategy," Al-Badri told reporters in a press conference after the match.

Badri said that their main objective for the coming period was to focus on winning the local league early and insisted that he wasn't worried by some of his players’ bookings after the recuperation of a host of injured players.

Ahli, who overcame Aluminum thanks to a Emad Al-Nahas spot-kick and a Mohamed Abou-Treika strike, now top the league standings with 44 points with two more postponed games to go.

On the other hand, Confederation of African Football (CAF) informed Ahli that Kenyan Club Tusker were scheduled to arrive in Cairo on March 29th for their African Champions League encounter one day later.

The Libyan refereeing staff appointed for the second-leg of the round of 32 will also arrive on the same day.

Ahli moved closer to qualify to the African Champions League round of 16 after defeating Tusker 2-0 in the first-leg that took place in Nairobi.
