Italian champions Juventus were held to a 1-1 draw with AS Roma at the Stadio Delle Alpi in the Serie A on Saturday.

Juventus played with 10-men for the entire second half after Czech midfielder Pavel Nedved was sent off in the additional time of the first period following a challenge on Simone Perrotta.

Houssine Kharja's goal five minutes from time cancelled out Emerson's opener in the first half.

Brazilian international Emerson broke the deadlock in the 35th minute after he connected with Mauro Camoranesi's cross to head home.

Elsewhere, AC Milan came from behind to beat Fiorentina 3-1 at the Giuseppe Meazza stadium.

Serie A top scorer Luca Toni put Fiorentina ahead in the 13th minute before Ukrainian international Andriy Shevchenko leveled the score seven minutes later.

Two strikes by Ricardo Kaka and Gennaro Gattuso in the 48th and 64th minutes sealed the victory for the Rossoneri.

Milan closed the gap with Juventus to eight points as they are in second place with 70 points while Fiorentina sit in fourth spot on 60 points.
