Werder Bremen thrashed Bayern Munich 3-0 on Saturday to restore hope of winning the Bundesliga title this season.

Despite the defeat, Bayern remained first on 66 points, seven ahead of Bremen and Hamburg who split second spot with the latter still have one match in hand.

German international Bastian Schweinsteiger converted the ball into his own net in the 33rd minute to give Bremen the lead.

Miroslav Klose dished out two assists in the 80th and 83rd minutes for Daniel Jensen and Tim Borowski respectively to seal the big victory over the title holders.

The three-goal defeat added to the misery of Bayern keeper Oliver Kahn, who was told by national team coach Jurgen Klinsmann that he won't be Germany's first-choice keeper in the World Cup.
