Hiddink will sign a two-year contract with an option for another two-year extension that will see him in charge till the 2010 World Cup, Cees van Nieuwenhuizen said in a televised interview in Holland.

The 59-year-old boss is carrying on a double role as PSV Eindhoven and Australia coach, guiding the Dutch side to their second successive local league title and steering the Australian team to their first World Cup appearance in 32 years.

He was also topping the list of England’s potential targets but Hiddink distanced himself from the job.

Hiddink has a good international record as he guided his country and Korea to the semis of the 1998 and 2002 World Cups respectively.
