The player agreed to the deal during the club’s press conference on Thursday regarding the inauguration of a new football academy named “Etti-Eto’o Academy”, the club announced on their official website.
Al-Balwi insisted that the deal was final and that Eto’o would join Ittihad in their quest to maintain their Asian title and qualify to the second consecutive World Club Championship (WCW), and revealed that they were going to negotiate the deal with the Barca president during his visit to Saudi Arabia that will start on April 27th.
On the other hand, Eto’o was quoted as saying that he wouldn’t mind playing with Ittihad in their Asian campaign and that he awaited Barcelona’s consent and said that Ittihad were a great team and are highly-reputable.
The Cameroonian international had visited Ittihad along with other Barcelona representatives, where they toured the club’s facilities and participated in the football school training.
Ittihad Jeddah have a notorious history when it comes to revealing new signings with new well-reputed players who play internationally like Rivaldo and Roy Keane. Nevertheless, they never succeed in tying them in.
