Enppi striker Magdi Abdul-Atti blamed bad luck and stress for their defeat to Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in the Arab Champions League (ACL) semi-final first-leg that took place on Tuesday.

“Bad luck was the main reason for our defeat, we squandered many chances to score while the visitors scored two goals out of a few number of chances they had,” Abdul-Atti told FilGoal.com exclusively after the match.

Enppi suffered a 2-1 defeat to Raja in the match that took place in the Arab Contractors stadium and will have to maintain at least a two-goal advantage in the second-leg to win the Arab title.

Asked about the audience, Abdul-Atti said: “We got used to playing without fans, that’s why we were under more stress given the huge attendance. Everyone of us tried too hard to avoid making mistakes, but we ended up making even more mistakes, and that’s what has cost us the match.”

Almost 25.000 fans filled the stadium, most of which was either Ahli and Zamalek fans.

Nevertheless, Abdul-Atti insisted that they still had one more match to play and that they will do their best to win the Arab title.

“We still have one more match to go in Casablanca, we could score two goals and win the title, but we can also lose with a big goal difference,” Abdul-Atti insisted.

Asked about the defense’s mistakes during the match, the talented striker said: “Defense mistakes happen in every match, we lost given our bad luck, it has nothing to do with mistakes. Raja were very lucky too.”
