Egyptian Football Association (EFA) is close to agreeing a deal with Portuguese coach Nelo Vingada that will see him take charge of Egypt's Olympic national team, EFA spokesman Medhat Shalabi said.

"We are close to finalize the deal with Vingada, just sorting financial details is remaining," Shalabi said on Wednesday.

The EFA are looking to convince Vingada to accept a monthly salary of $20,000 instead the required $22,000.

"We will try to find another coach in case Vingada turned down our offer, but this is unlikely to happen," he said.

Vingada, who has guided Zamalek to the Egyptian League title in 2002, will be accompanied by Egyptian assistants who will be chosen next week, according to the EFA.

Egyptian High Council of Sports (HCS), presided by Hassan Saqr, has agreed to pay Vingada's monthly salary.
