Harras Al-Hodoud weakened their chances of qualifying to the African Confederation Cup round of 16 after being held to a goalless draw at home by Nigerian side Iwuanyanwu in the first-leg that took place on Sunday.

Harras Al-Hodoud, who made their first continental appearance this season, will now need to maintain a one-goal advantage at least in order to qualify to the round of 16 that will take place in two weeks time.

The Egyptians’ below-par performance during the African match comes after a series of mediocre performances, last of which was a 2-1 defeat to less-experienced Koroum in the Egyptian premier league.

Both strikers Abdel-Hamid Bassiouni and Ahmed Abdul-Ghani squandered a host of chances to score throughout the match, alongside a number of other players’ who also failed to reach the Iwuanyanwu net.
