The Spanish international was received with a tremendous standing ovation upon coming in for Deco in the 80th minute.
"It was an unforgettable night," Xavi was quoted as saying by Barcelona's official website after the game.
"I've never received a reception like that before and it was great to feel useful again for the team and as a footballer," he added.
Xavi tore a knee ligament in his right leg last December and it was feared at first that the injury will keep him out for the rest of the season, jeopardizing his chances of making this summer's World Cup finals.
Xavi's premature comeback is a huge boost not only for Spain coach Luis Aragones but also to Barcelona coach Frank Rijkaard who is preparing his team for the UEFA Champions League final against Arsenal on May 17th.
