Egyptian-Swedish goalkeeper Rami Shaaban has been named on Tuesday in the Swedish squad for the World Cup.

Shaaban, who plays for Norwegian side Fredriksborg, has been picked up ahead of frontrunner Eddie Gustafsson of Ham-Kam.

The 30-year-old Shaaban said in April that he expects to be chosen because of his experience with his former side Arsenal.

"I have played big matches with Arsenal and I know what it takes," Shaaban told Swedish paper Expressen.

"Not to sound arrogant, but if I only get to play a few matches more, I will have a very good chance."

Shaaban joined Arsenal in 2002 but featured only three times for the Londoners before breaking his leg and departing the club.

He also played for Egyptian club Dina in the late 1990s before signing for Zamalek but he didn't play any game for the Cairo giants.
