Ahli beat Arab Contractors 2-0

Follow-up – Osama Khairy: Ahli head coach Manuel Jose insisted that his side won’t be satisfied with a draw with rivals Zamalek in the Egyptian league round-24 Cairo-derby that will take place on Sunday.

Jose insisted that a draw would guarantee that Ahli won the Egyptian league for the second consecutive year, and said that he will play to win Zamalek and grab the three points of the match, as he did in their match against Arab Contractors on Wednesday.

Asked about the Arab Contractors match, Jose said: “The team played well in the first 15 minutes then suffered a downfall in performance, this happened after Mohamed Barakat, Mohamed Shawki and Mohamed Abou-Treika’s comeback following lengthy spells of recuperation periods.

Ahli defeated Arab Contractors 2-0 thanks to goals from Abou-Treika and Ahmed Sayed, only to become one point away from retaining last season’s title.

Jose also revealed that Angolan player Flavio Amado will stay with the team until next season, unless something new came up, as it would be hard to find another African substitute, in a press conference after the Arab Contractors encounter.

“I asked Flavio about the season in which he scored the least and he said 11 goals, and then I asked him about the season in which he scored the most, he said 23, this only means that this season is an exception,” Jose added.

On the other hand, Arab Contractors boss Mohamed Radwan insisted that his side’s matches against Ahli were usually very demanding, and said that what usually end them is Ahli’s experience.

“Ahli guaranteed the Egyptian title a long while ago, but that didn’t stop us from playing well today, we tried playing an open game to clinch the three points,” Radwan said.

Asked by FilGoal.com about Ahli’s spot-kick that earned them their second goal, Radwan said: “That’s how the Egyptian refereeing has been since the start of the season, so I won’t comment on their performance, I’ll leave it up to the Journalists.”
