Ukraine and AC Milan striker Andrei Shevchenko will be back from his injury and fit to play in the world cup, club doctor Jean Pierre Meersseman was quoted as saying by Sky Sports.com on Wednesday.

"After several examinations we can confirm that Shevchenko needs to be rested for 25 days, that's to say 15 of complete rest and 10 days for rehabilitation," Meersseman said.

Shevchenko damaged his knee ligament during Milan's game against Parma last week, which means that he won't be available for the club's final game of the season against AS Roma, with fears that he might fail to recuper for Ukraine’s World Cup campaign.

"There is a month to go, so we can take care of Shevchenko's injury in a relaxed manner. In the second period of his rehabilitation, he will be able to train to be ready for the World Cup," Meersseman added.

Ukrian will kick-off their World Cup campaign against Spain in the first game of group H on June 14th, before facing Saudi Arabia on June 19th and Tunisia on June 23rd.
