Bayern Munich coach Felix Magath revealed that he is thrilled with his team's successful season after winning both the Bundesliga and the German Cup for the second successive season.

"The German double is a great achievement, we defended both titles," Magath said in an interview with German magazine Bild on Thursday.

Bayern became the first German side ever to win the double in two consecutive seasons on Saturday after their 1-1 draw at Kaiserslautern, however the major bitterness of their season was being eliminated from the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League at the hands of AC Milan.

"I was disappointed at getting knocked out of the Champions League, but what really surprised me, was that people doubted our competitive ability, I can't figure out what's the difference between going out from the round of 16 or from the semi finals when it's against a strong team like Milan," he said.

"I don’t blame myself, we won four trophies in two years and for me that is more than I expected," Magath added.

Asked about Bayern's chances of winning the Champions League next season, Magath said: "We want to win more titles of course, but winning the Champions League is unrealistic.

"We'll have to wait and see how our international players recover from the World Cup, that may cause us a slow start and it will take us few games to regain our strength," Magath added.

The Bavarian giants will be playing without superstar Michael Ballack who'll leave the club to join English Champions Chelsea.

"I had two great years with Ballack, I wish him luck at Chelsea, however I'm looking forward to see how Bayern will play without him."

"We have a great team and we can replace Ballack qualitatively," Magath added.
