Osasuna place fourth in Spanish league, qualify to Champions League

Osasuna landed fourth place in the Spanish league after defeating Valencia 2-1 on Tuesday and qualified to next season’s UEFA Champions League.

Sevilla were on a quest to edge Osasuna for the last qualification ticket to the UCL but a sensational 4-3 victory over Real Madrid was only enough to get them to the UEFA Cup.

Osasuna hold fourth place in the Spanish league standings with a tally of 68 points, one point behind third-placed Valencia, while Real Madrid finished second on 70 points despite their defeat, with Barcelona crowned as this season’s Spanish champions.

Savo Milosevic opened the score for Osasuna from an amazing header before David Lopez doubled his side’s lead from a low-drive off the Valencia area, while David Villa scored a late consolation goal for his side from a free-kick.

On the other hand, David Beckham netted a score for Real in the space of space of 27 minutes before Sevilla retaliated with four consecutive goals before the end of the first-half.

Zinedine Zidane scored one more goal for Real in the 71st minute in the final match of the Frenchman’s career.
