Mahmoud was appointed last February as part of a mutual agreement between both Egyptian and Liberian governments, but the Egyptian who barely spoke English couldn't cop with life in the West African country.
However, Liberian deputy sports minister Marbue Richards said that they made their best to make Mahmoud feel at home in Monrovia but the language barrier made it too difficult for the Egyptian to adapt.
"The coach is simply inadaptable, the situation here cannot be compared to standard practices as we are building from scratches," Richards was quoted as saying by BBC Sport.
"We prefer someone who speaks English, and we have agreed in principle with the Egyptian embassy here to let him leave."
