Abdul-Halim Ali opened the score for Zamalek with a brace in the 14th and 17th minutes as the hosts looked on their way to a comfortable victory.
But Arab Contractors stormed back into the game through goals from Ayman Zein El-Abedin and Mahmoud Samir in the 45th and 50th minutes.
Zamalek midfielder and former Arab Contractors star Alaa Abdul-Ghani restored the lead in the 61st minute before late goals from Mostafa Gaafar and Hazem Emam sealed the win.
Former Enppi striker Amr Zaki also appeared beside Zamalek president Mortada Mansour on the sidelines where he revealed that he has completed his move from Russian outfit Lokomotiv Moscow.
Meanwhile, Ahli beat Ittihad Alexandria 1-0 thanks to a Mohamed Abou-Treika spot-kick in the 27th minute.
Defending champions Enppi also qualified to the quarter-finals after beating Al-Gaish 3-1 in the Arab Contractors stadium in Cairo.
Ahmed Abdul-Zaher put Enppi ahead in the fourth minute and Magdi Abdul-Atti extended the lead three minutes after re-start.
Sameh Adrous pulled one back for for Al-Gaish in the 83rd minute but Mohamed Thabet "Saroukh" secured his side's victory in the dying seconds.
Elsewhere, Masri came from behind to defeat Tersana 2-1 in the Port Said stadium to reach the same round.
Mohamed Samir put Tersana up front in the third minute before Karim Zekri scored the equalizer in the 48th minute, while Mohamed Zekri scored the winner in the 62nd minute.
In another match, Harras Al-Hodoud romped to a 5-1 victory over Al-Mustaqbal.
Abdul-Hamid Basyouni, Mohamed Mekki, an Ahmed Abdel-Ghani brace and an Ekrami Ibrahim goal in the 21st, 34th, 48th, 75th and 90th minutes booked the Alexandria side a place in the last eight.
Gamal Kotb scored Al-Mustaqbal’s only goal in the 45th minute.
Abdullah Al-Saied scored a goal in the 30th minute against Koroum to grab a qualifying ticket for the quarter-finals for Ismaili.
Suez Cement also beat Aluminum 7-6 in a penalty shootout after both the original time and extra time ended in a 1-1 draw.
Osama Ezz Eddin grabbed the lead for Aluminum in the 17th minute before Adel Mostafa leveled for Suez Cement in the 68th minute.
Kafr Al-Sheikh qualified to the last eight after defeating Dekernes 3-1 thanks to a Sabri Al-Mesairi hat-trick.
With these results, Enppi will next play Zamalek, Ahli will take on Suez Cement, Harras Al-Hodoud will face Masri and Ismaili will take on Kafr Al-Sheikh.
