Olympic Lyon forward Sidney Govou will replace the injured Djibril Cisse in France's World Cup squad, the French Football Federation (FFF) announced on its official website on Thursday.
Coach Raymond Domenech called up Govou after Cisse, who broke his right leg during France's 3-1 win over China on Wednesday, was ruled out of the World Cup.
Govou, who played 19 times for France with three international goals to his tally, will join the rest of the French squad on Thursday before heading to Germany.
Govou was immediately named among a number of forwards to replace the injured Liverpool man. The list included Barcelona's Ludovic Giuly and Fenerbahce striker Nicola Anelka.
The 26-year-old Lyon ace is a versatile player who can be deployed out wide as well as in the centre of attack.
Former world champions France will start their World Cup campaign against Switzerland on June 18th before facing South Korea and Togo.
