"We are very happy, the team did their job well and the players were very confident and focused," Suarez was quoted as saying by the official FIFA website on Friday.
"We must not get carried away though, we can celebrate our victory but we also must concentrate on the next group game against Costa Rica," Suarez added.
Suarez was also glad to see his players cope with the difficult weather situation in Schalke, which is much different than playing in the high altitudes of Ecuador.
"Lot of people criticize us for only winning at high altitude, but this stadium was more suited to Poland, so now everybody knows that we can win in other conditions," Suarez insisted.
Meanwhile, Poland coach Pawel Janas agreed that his team weren’t good enough to claim the victory, but he refused to blame his tactics as the only reason behind the defeat.
"Everything depends on the performance and attitude of the players, we wanted to pounce on their mistakes but the first goal spoiled all that," Janas said.
Janas also insisted that his World Cup campaign would be even harder after their opening loss and said that their only hope was to beat Germany in their coming game on Wednesday.
"Now we have to take points off Germany and I will speak to the players about that on Saturday," Janas said.
Poland will face hosts Germany on June 14th in Dortmund while Ecuador will meet Costa Rica in the AOL Arena in Hamburg on June 15th in the second round of Group A.
