Fredrik Ljunjberg inspired Sweden to a 1-0 victory over Paraguay in the Group B match that took place on Thursday in Berlin.

The Arsenal star scored Sweden's winner in the 88th minute to move his side closer to qualify to the second round of the World Cup.

The Swedes come second in the Group B table with four points, two behind leaders England, who qualified to the last 16 earlier after beating third-placers Trinidad and Tobago 2-0, while Paraguay tail the group with zero points.

Sweden kicked-off the match in an excelled form focusing more on attacking tactics but failed to break the deadlock in the first-half as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Henrik Larsson and Ljunjberg wasting a host of easy chances to open the score for their side.

Ibrahimovic was replaced by Marcus Allback by the start of the second-half to reinforce the team’s attacking strategy even more.

Nevertheless, Allback squander his first chance, and the team’s best chance, to score when he volleyed the ball over the Paraguay goalkeeper, only to be saved by the airtight defense.

The game was heading towards a goalless draw when Ljungberg come up at the fat post and headed an Allback cross straight into the Paraguayan goal.

Sweden will next face England on June 20th, while Paraguay will play against Trinidad and Tobago.
