"It's like the tale of Cinderella," Blokhin told a press conference after the game.
"The pumpkin turned into a beautiful coach and the rats into magnificent horses. That's what happened to us today and we were able to turn things around," he said.
Blokhin, who lashed out at his players following their embarrassing 4-0 defeat to Spain in the opening game, voiced his delight with the team's performance.
We knew it was a decisive match for us and we turned things around," he said.
However, Blokhin remained realistic about his team's chances.
"The future is same as before. We now need to succeed against Tunisia.
"I think our chances of going all the way are not huge because there are stronger teams but we will fight."
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia coach Marcos Paqueta said he was proud of his players despite the crushing defeat.
"Our boys fought the whole game and never gave up," Paqueta said. "They tried and tried all game, and when you make your best effort you are satisfied and your conscience is at peace."
They should be able to get over this and make a different impression next game," he added.
Saudi Arabia face a crucial match against Spain in the final day of Group H action on Friday while Ukraine have to play Tunisia.
