Referee Graham Poll

FIFA president Sepp Blatter has launched a severe attack on English referee Graham Poll, who was in charge of Croatia-Australia tie in the World Cup, German newspaper Bild reported on Friday.

Poll made several controversial decisions, including a disastrous error when he showed Croatia's Josip Simunic three yellow cards.

"Such an error should not occur. We cannot forgive that," the world governing body president said.

The referee's overall performance was below-par as he did not award Australia two clear penalties, with Simunic bringing down Mark Viduka inside the area before Dario Simic handled the ball inside the box.

Australia came from behind twice to earn a 2-2 draw with Croatia, a result that lifted them to the second round of the World Cup.
