"I started negotiations for a new contract on Thursday, and we still have some details that should be finalized within the coming few days," Al-Shater told FilGoal.com exclusively.
Al-Shater, who joined Ahli from Saudi club Ittihad Jeddah two years ago, had a great season with the Egyptian champions in which he helped them win five major trophies.
The player added that he expects to put pen to paper on his new deal before the team traveled to their training camp in France as part of the club's preparations for the new season next Monday.
Al-Shater will be the fourth player to sign a new deal with Ahli after the club announced that team stars Mohamed Abou-Treika, Mohamed Barakat and Emad El-Nahhas all signed new contracts keeping them till 2009.
