Mohamed Barakat has sustained a knee injury similar to the one he sustained last season and kept him out for three months, Ahli said on Sunday.

Ahli's medical staff said Barakat has undergone scans that proved he sprained the internal ligament of his right knee and it is yet to be known how long he Barakat will be out.

Osama Ragaey, a member of Ahli's medical team, told FilGoal.com that Barakat will be traveling for the team's training camp in France on Monday for further examinations.

Ragaey, though, said it might be a minor injury that needs only some rest and specific exercises.

The 29-year-old midfielder refused to comment on how serious the injury is or how it was sustained.

Barakat signed a new contract with Ahli that will see him stay with the Egyptian champions till 2009.

He led Ahli to winning five trophies last season including the domestic double and the African Champions League title.
