FIFA have decided to ban the Hellenic Football Federation (HFF) of Greece from all international activities, The World's football governing body announced on its official website on Monday.

FIFA accused the Greek Federation of lack of independence and government interference in their work and sporting decisions which doesn’t go along with FIFA's line of principles.

"FIFA have decided to suspend the HFF after determining that their situation isn’t in line with FIFA's principles regarding the independence of members association and the independence of the decision making process of the football federation in each country," FIFA said in its statement.

In September 2005, the Greek Federation were given a deadline by FIFA till 15th July to provide a law from the Greek government allowing the HFF to work in line with the FIFA's policy and therefore, the suspension decision was taken.

"In Spite of repeated warnings from both FIFA and UEFA, the commitment expressed by Greek government to amend the law on sport to irrevocably recognize that football matters can only be decided by the HFF and its subordinated football structures has not been respected," FIFA's statement added.

The European champions will now have to sort the whole issue as they are only two months away from the 2008 qualifying campaign as well as their friendly game against England on August 16th.
