"To win in their own backyard -- there aren't any words that describe what I'm feeling right now," Del Piero told reporters after the game.
Del Piero, who came on as a substitute in the second half of extra time, dealt the final blow for the Germans only one minute after teammate Fabio Grosso put the Azzuri ahead.
"It was fantastic to be part of a match like that," the Juventus skipper said.
"I was shouting for the ball all the way back in midfield. I could see there was a chance because their midfield was stretched all over the place.
"Alberto (Gilardino) did well to draw the defender and put the ball into my path and I decided to finish it like that," he added.
Del Piero, who has not featured for Italy or Juventus as a starter throughout last season, said that his goal celebration was triggered by anger.
“My celebration was more anger than joy at first, caused by many things it’s better not to talk about now, but it turned into happiness for this final,” Del Piero said.
