Blackburn coach Mark Hughes said that the AS Roma striker would add quality to his team.
"We've got a number of players we're interested in - Mido has been mentioned and he's the type of player that would probably add to what we have here," Hughes told Sky Sports News.
"We're more than hopeful of bringing in more players to add to the quality we have," he added.
Rovers' interest in the 23-year-old goal getter comes after they lost veteran striker Craig Bellamy to Liverpool earlier this summer.
Nevertheless, Hughes insisted his team would still cope even if the former Ajax and Marseille forward, who has reportedly rejected an initial bid, does not complete a move to Ewood Park.
"If it happens, it happens. If not, then we move on to something else," the Welsh boss insisted.
