Rumors have said the Nerazzurri have courted Toni with a four-year contract worth £2.8 million ($ 5.2 million) a season and the Tuscan club would be ready to let the Italian World Cup player go for a fee of around £15 million.
Although the 30-year-old forward was the main goal threat for Fiorentina last season, netting 31 Serie A goals, the club may be looking to bring a younger player on board.
Inter owner Massimo Moratti has already told media he hopes to sign the influential striker for Italy's World Cup team, and had also considered bringing on David Trezeguet or Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
With Fiorentina awaiting the verdict for the match-fixing appeal, Inter are primed to take advantage of the team's relegation to Serie B.
So far this summer, the club has purchased Fabio Grosso from Palermo, and they are looking to finalize the deal with Toni sometime in the coming days.
